Flamenco and Hip Hop Unite In Granada

Canyon Cody is an outernational hip-hop producer, ethnomusicologist and global music DJ. In 2008, Cody received a Fulbright Scholarship in Spain, where he organized Granada Doaba - an academic experiment in instrumental hip-hop rooted in traditional flamenco and Arab music. Co-produced by underground rapper Gnotes, Granada Doaba features 16 musicians from around the world who are all currently living in Spain and recording collectively.

Last week, NPR's All Things Considered aired a segment where they interviewed Canyon Cody and Gnotes in regards to both their music production and their ethnological/musical research. Madeleine Brand conducts the interview and you can read it here.
