Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA from the legendary Brooklyn hip-hop trio, The Beastie Boys, announces that he has cancer. Yauch was optimistic in what he called a "very treatable" cancerous tumor in his salivary gland. However, the unfortunate news came amidst a summer tour and album release. As a result, tour dates have been canceled and the album has been postponed to accommodate Yauch's surgery.
The Beastie Boys were responsible for some of hip-hop's most seminal albums including License to Ill and Paul's Boutiquet. We wish Adam the best of luck during his surgery and smooth recovery back to health.
