Blank Artists Afterglow Review

Greetings fans and Movement festival goers. Memorial Day weekend has finally hit the road and we can now consciously regroup our thoughts. What a memorable weekend it was. If we asked for anymore, we'd be violating the right of human collectivism. We had the pleasure of seeing many old friends, in addition to meeting many new and exciting individuals based both nationally and internationally. For those who weren't able to make it, we promise you an encore, really soon.

First and foremest, we'd like to thank the team involved in running Saturday night's event. Without your presence, we would have never been able to imagine such a wonderful vibe. You are our best friends and we hope to continue to reap the benefits of your contributions to Blank Artists. This team includes Abid, Rose, Brad, Dan, Clay, Chris, Genevieve, Phil, and Christine. We would also like to thank the National Bohemian Home for being open to our ideas and working with us every step of the way. Thank you Scott, Jaime, and Phil. Next, we'd like to extend a big thanks to Brendan, Amber, Erica, and the crew from Interdimensional Transmissions. By sharing the same venue, our events were inextricably linked together and your guidance and veteran expertise in the realm of party production taught us a valuable lesson that we'll continue to hold in high regards for the future of our event promotions. Moving on, a proper thank you can not be expressed without extolling the efforts of Saturday night's performers. Thank you Tim, Todd, and Trent. Your musical minds are among some of the most inspirational to the label and you created a quintessential soundtrack to the evening from start to finish. We would also like to thank all members of the label for lending their support. It was nice to see you all getting that booty rollin and especially Tony from Bully Sound Systemsb for tweaking the audio quality to perfection. Also, thank you Bethany Shorb for your design skills. There were many festival attendees who complimented the flier design. Let's hope they get a chance to see more of the beautiful artwork you create on a daily basis. And last but not least, thanks to all of the party patrons who decided to choose our party for the evening. We hope you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves and it was a treat to see all of your smiling faces. Until next time.

Red Bull Music Academy Presents: Theo Parrish

From: Red Bull Music Academy Online

As anyone who has experienced a Theo Parrish the work of this consummate architect of sound envelopes the listener, and transmits new perspectives on club sonix. Theo's musical expression fuses the rhythmic, disco-based pulse of Chicago house with the modernist motorik soul of Detroit techno; at the same time pointing to a lineage in black music that runs directly from Sun Ra to Sound Signature. "Jazz spawned house music, jazz spawned hip hop, jazz spawned funk and they all reflect back into that," says Theo. So if you want to see the future via the raw, soulful and black roots of house music, then you've come to the right teleporter. Check out Theo's recent remix of the Kuniyuki Takahashi track, entitled "All These Things".

Black Moth Super Rainbow - Interactive Video

Low-fi electronic disco pop derelicts Black Moth Super Rainbow, have once again transcended the contrived formulas of entertainment media with their new music video for the song "Dark Bubbles". Instead of over-produced and underwhelming spatterings of contemporary rock and rap videos, BMSR decided to make their music video interactive with the viewer.

The focal point of the band's new video is a dude bouncing up and down on a trampoline. Drag your mouse over the picture (or use webcam) to make the screen transform from bright day to black night.

The first phase of Detroit's hugely-anticipated urban recreational path, the Dequindre Cut Greenway, will open to the public this Thursday, May 14. The grand opening public ceremony is at the Woodbridge Street entrance of the greenway between Orleans and St. Aubin streets at 10 a.m. It will feature a ceremonial ribbon-cutting followed by a march of more than 200 near-eastside Detroit residents and students.

The Dequindre Cut, formerly a Grand Truck Railroad line, is a below-grade corridor that runs parallel to St. Aubin Street, between Mack Avenue and Woodbridge Street just north of the Riverfront. The first phase of redevelopment for the Cut is between Woodbridge Street and Gratiot Avenue. The greenway development features a 20-foot-wide paved pathway, which includes separate lanes for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Entrance ramps to the Cut are located at Lafayette St., Gratiot Avenue and at Woodbridge St. Future plans call for the greenway to extend from Gratiot Avenue up to Mack Avenue. Liveset By: Addled (Moodgadget Records)

Addled's Ryan Cavanagh (one half of Slow Disco edit duo Worst Friends) has a stacked deck of musical influences. His modus operandi is tech-house, beat-laden with melodic chords, heavy chugs, and stylistic arrangements that are reminiscent of deep cuts procured by the Plastic City imprint. Addled headlined an east-coast tour with Moodgadget Records last fall as Worst Friends and recorded this delicious liveset on the Baltimore stop, hosted by bmore-electro ballers More Or Less (MOL). Be sure to checkout the upcoming release on MOL by Outputmessage featuring a remix by Addled. Shit is strictly B.A.
